What is fitness coaching?
First and foremost, coaching is accountability. A lot of people know what they need to do, but just need the accountability to do it. Getting started can be the hardest part and accountability is the push most people need.
When you are held accountable to something, you develop internal motivation to achieve it. And the days where it’s not in you already, a coach will provide it by reminding you why you’re doing what you’re doing, the goals you are seeking, and the rewards that come with them.
As you are more and more motivated, confidence starts to emerge as the coach provides instruction. The body God gave us is infinitely complex. And because we’re all different, not even the core tenants of fitness work exactly the same for each person. And that’s when a coach can come in to help you navigate the waters of what will work best for you by giving you guidance with the three pillars of fitness: nutrition, exercise, and sleep.
A natural result of confidence is hope, and that’s exactly what coaching will do for you, give you hope for your fitness future. If our founder, a formerly chubby kid, can get in great shape, that should provide hope. If you are finally getting answers to your health dilemmas, that should provide hope. If BTU can help other people, then that should give you hope. And what would we do without hope?
Accountability • Motivation • Confidence • Hope
How can fitness coaching be free?
Rather than charge people for creating workout programs, nutrition plans, or to be in a fitness accountability group, we’ve gone a different route: BTU has partnered with Beachbody, creators of popular in-home workout programs like P90X and Insanity and the all-natural meal replacement drink called Shakeology. This allows us to coach you at no cost but if you purchase a recommended product, our coaches can make a commission. This gives our coaches more flexibility on how to coach, where to coach, and who to coach.
And it gives our clients more freedom with the time and financial investment they want to place in their health:
1) No expensive gym memberships, group fitness classes, or personal training sessions.
2) No time consuming trips to and from the gym.
3) When you buy a program, you own it for life. That means every time you workout, the cost per workout goes down.
4) Frees up your finances to invest in solid nutrition, which is where you’ll get 80% of your results.
5) Because most of the coaching is in an online, group format, you’re getting the additional motivation, encouragement, and fellowship from others going through the same programs you are.
6) Since the internet never sleeps, you can check in with your coach at a time that works for you.
7) All Beachbody products come with a money-back guarantee, so there’s never any real financial risk.
This combination of flexibility and freedom makes it a perfect partnership between Beachbody and BTU, and between BTU and the client.
BTU coaches share your core Christian values.
Most importantly, all BTU-approved coaches are required to complete the BTU Coach Application. The application requires signing a Statement of Faith, submitting a letter of reference from a staff member at their church, and signing the Giving Back Pledge stating that they agree to give 3% of their coaching income to ministries intent on serving the mind, body, and spirit. The final step in the application process includes a phone interview to see if they are indeed a good fit for BTU.
Our screening process gives BTU the best chance to be assured that the coaching you’re receiving is being given from an integrity-driven individual who has your best interest in mind. And even more importantly, we want to know that our coaches’ passion for Christ will be evident by the way they serve His body.
